This is the second Children and Young People: Indicators of Wellbeing in New Zealand report which we have produced. Government policy, as well as individuals, families, communities, businesses and international factors influence the outcomes we report on.The 2008 report presents: indicators of the social wellbeing of children and young peoplehow this has changed over timehow different groups of the population are faring.

The Ministry of Youth Development used the information contained in this report to help prepare the Government's report to the United Nations in respect of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCROC). The final UNCROC [third and fourth consolidated] report was sent to the United Nations in November 2008.
