This report outlines an evaluation of the Taylor Centre community mental health service based in Auckland. The evaluation was requested by the Mental Health Commission in order to assess and improve the range and quality of treatment options available to users of mental health services. A series of interviews with staff and clients of the Taylor Centre were used to assess the development and performance of the Taylor Centre. The results from this evaluation are a demonstration of 'best practice' service.

Key Results

Overall, the Taylor centre was identified by the Mental Health Commission as:

  1. having implemented a successful change process over the last 5 years that had lead to substantial improvements in service, and
  2. currently offering an effective service that is well regarded by clients and other key stakeholders, and
  3. offering a service that is largely consistent with the goals outline in the Mental Health Commission’s Blueprint for Mental Health Services in New Zealand
