The Health and Disability Long Term Work Programme aims to increase the number of disabled people, including long-term unemployed disabled people, in paid employment on an equal basis with others. It is a four year programme that contributes to the Disability Action Plan and builds on the Health and Disability Welfare Reform changes introduced in July 2013.

This work programme has been developed with the health and disability sector by working with key stakeholders and engaging more widely through surveys. The Ministry of Social Development and other agencies are now working on implementing this programme.

Purpose

The objective of the Health and Disability Long Term Work Programme (the work programme) is to increase employment and economic opportunities for all disabled people and people with a health condition living in New Zealand.
