This research report provides a descriptive picture of the reciprocal relationship between paid work and family life and raising children. Specifically, it provides insight into the work and lifestyle preferences and expectations of New Zealanders, and how paid work and family life are managed, as well as the division of housework and childcare responsibilities.

Purpose

The purpose of this report is to inform policy makers, employers and other stakeholders working to develop, maintain and strengthen policies, provisions and practices that support the sustainable management of the interface between family life and paid work life.
