In 1997 Statistics New Zealand was granted funding from the Foundation for Research Science and Technology (FRST) to conduct a feasibility study for a Longitudinal Survey of Income, Employment and Family Dynamics (LSIEFD). This report is the final output from the feasibility project and sets out the results and conclusions from consultation and research that was conducted during this project.
This report also includes an outline of the methodology that was recommended for the main survey. For more detailed discussions of the options examined and the results of the research, a range of internal research reports is available (see Appendix 1).
