Health and Lifestyles Survey 2010: Methodology Report

The Health and Lifestyles Survey (HLS) is a monitor of the health behaviour and attitudes of  New Zealand adults aged 15 years and over, and parents and caregivers of 5 to16-year-olds. The HLS is managed by the Health Sponsorship Council (HSC) and collects information relating to HSC's key programme areas - tobacco control, sun safety, problem gambling and healthy eating. The HLS is carried out every two years, with the first HLS undertaken in 2008.

This methodology report details the procedures and protocols followed to ensure the HLS produces high quality, robust data.
