The National Standards of Service Provision for Lung Cancer Patients in New Zealand have been developed by the National Lung Cancer Working Group to address New Zealand’s high incidence and poor survival rate for lung cancer.

The Standards aim to improve the care of lung cancer patients by setting requirements for optimal care and addressing variations in care across the country - including requirements for investigation, diagnosis, treatment and supportive care.

The Standards put a limit on waiting times for lung cancer treatment, and promote a multidisciplinary approach to treatment planning.
